In person's categorical system two psychological effects interact. The one is effect of typicality, characterized heterogeneity of category's inner structure (horizontal level). Another one is the affect of basic level, characterized heterogeneity of categories in vertical hierarchical structure. On the one hand, there are such typical examples, which recognized on subordinate but not basic level. On the other hand, there are atypical examples recognized on basic but not subordinate level. The author concluded that effect of basic level doesn't depend on typicality and may display on any level of generalization for any categories, typical and atypical, as well.
