Some interesting facts about Albert Einstein

Albert Einstein was a genius theoretical physicist. He is best known for his mass-energy equivalence, theory of relativity, Brownian motion and photoelectric effect. He was honored with the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1921. Here are some interesting facts about Albert Einstein.

Albert Einsteins popular phrase The important thing is to not stop questioning reflected his never-ending questioning attitude and curiosity. This attitude earned him a Nobel Prize

Albert Einstein was a genius in physics and mathematics. He published his first scientific work The Investigation of the State of ther in Magnetic Fields" in 1894, when he was just 15 years old. Albert Einstein showed speech impairments till the age of nine. Young Einstein seldom spoke and always muttered silently, framing sentences in his mind until he finally spoke them loud after getting them right. He always had problems with spelling. The headmaster of the school suggested that Einstein should attend a trade school. His teachers also declared him as borderline retarded! After graduating from college, Einstein failed to find a job related to his field, physics. He became a technical assistant in a Swiss patent office. However, he never stopped his research on theoretical physics and continued to work on it in his spare time.

He was visiting the United States when Adolf Hitler came to power in 1933, and did not go back to Germany, where he had been a professor at the Berlin Academy of Sciences. He settled in the U.S., becoming a citizen in 1940. On the eve of World War II, he helped President Franklin D. Roosevelt that Germany might be developing an atomic weapon, and recommended that the U.S. begin similar research; this eventually led to what would become the Manhattan Project. Einstein was in support of defending the Allied forces, but largely denounced using the new discovery of nuclear fission as a weapon. Later, together with Bertrand Russell, Einstein signed the RussellEinstein Manifesto, which highlighted the danger of nuclear weapons. Einstein was affiliated with the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey, until his death in 1955.

Einstein published more than 300 scientific papers along with over 150 non-scientific works. His great intelligence and originality have made the word "Einstein" synonymous with genius.
