Indefinite Article

1. Для обозначения принадлежности предмета к какому-либо классу предметов (со значением какой-то, один из, любой), с глаголами to have(got), to be,с оборотом there is, в именной части составного сказуемого, при наличии описательного определения и без него.	A woman is waiting for you downstairs. She has (got) a cat. It’s a Siamese. I’ve bought a car. There’s a vacant seat in the first row. I am a student. He’s an only child in the family. I’ve read an interesting book.
2. Перед абстрактным существительным при наличии описательного определения.	They lived a quiet life. He has a deep knowledge of the subject.
3. Перед существительным в приложении, если не подчеркивается известность лица, к которому оно относится.	Mr White, an engineer at our plant, spoke at the meeting yesterday.

1. Перед существительным, обозначающим конкретный предмет, о котором даются или выясняются дополнительные сведения; с существительными упоминаемыми раньше.	The village is not far from the city. Where is the book? I bought a flat. The flat is very cozy.

Перед существительным, являющимся единственным в своем роде или в данной обстановке. а также: the earth, the moon, the sun, the sky, the ground, the universe, the equator, the horizon, the atmosphere, the cosmos, the Milky Way;	the country, the environment, the world, the cinema, the theatre, the radio (but: television), the government, the weather.
