Disappeared Street
This street should appeared on the map of Kungur in 1780. But only 17 years later the street was put on the map and it was named “Spasskaya”.
According to one of the versions the name of the street came from Spasskaya tower of Kungur Kremlin, which was founded in 1667.In connection with other towers of Kremlin, but it was higher than others. Moreover it had gates for going inside the tower. Over the gates there was the icon “Spas Nerukotvorny” after which the tower was named. Above the tower there was two-headed eagle.
The tower was destroyed and it wasn’t saved up to nowadays.
The second version said that tower got its name in honor of Spassky Gates of Blagovetschеnsky temple. The huge white stone gates were decorated by different patterns. You can see their image only on photos.
Spasskaya Street got its beginning the north-western part of the Kungur Kremlin and went along Blagovetschinskaya Street. If we put the street on the map of Kungur nowadays it got its

beginning from Lenin Street, near the town hall and Gostiny Dvor. Then it moved along the Sylva River to the Ice Cave.
By the way, Spasskaya Street is the only street in Kungur which is disappeared. This street was connected with Sobornaya Square. And nowadays this street was renamed into Vorovsky Street, who was a real revolutionary, a Soviet diplomat and a literature critic.
