There are sleeping cars and dining cars that make even the longest journey enjoyable. Travelling by sea is popular mostly for pleasure trips. On board of large ships and small river boats people can visit foreign countries and different places of interest within their own country. On board a ship there are facilities to enjoy your trip. It is a pleasant way of spending a holiday. But when the sea is rough and you may get seasick, there is less pleasure if any at all. Travelling by car is may be the most popular kind of travelling today. You needn`t buy tickets in advance and carry heavy suitcases. You can stop where you wish and spend at any place as much time as you like. Young people today often travel by hitchhiking. It may be dangerous but they say it`s great fun.

Text 2. Tourism

Tourism is visiting places for pleasure. Many people become tourists when they are on vacation. Some tourists visit foreign countries for sightseeing. They usually stay at the hotels because it is comfortable. Those who are interested in history, can visit ancient castles, churches, cathedrals and take pictures. They know the countries and their traditions. Some people enjoy mountains. They are not afraid to climb high peaks covered with snow. It is not easy to leave in tents, carry backpacks, go on foot for many hours. But tourists are ready to bear all discomforts because they are crazy about wonderful views and fresh air. There are a lot of families who spend their spare time hiking. It takes much time to prepare necessary things for future camping: fishing-rods, kettles, sleeping-bags, tents. Hiking teaches people a lot. Tourists can read a map, a compass, put up tents, make a fire, do the cooking.
