There are four seasons in the year. They are spring, summer, autumn and winter.
In spring the sun shines brightly and it becomes warm. The sky is blue and cloudless. The fields are covered with fresh green grass. Nature is full of new life.
Summer comes after spring. It is the favourite season of many people. In hot weather you can go swimming or boating. You can go mushrooming, too. It is pleasant to walk in a wood with a basket and pick mushrooms or berries.
In autumn it is often foggy and rainy. It becomes cold. The leaves become yellow and red and fall off the trees.
Then winter comes with its very short days and long nights. The lakes and rivers freeze. The ground is covered with snow. Yet many people like winter very much. They can play hockey, too. Russian winter is very beautiful.
