IV. Работа над грамматическим материалом

Повторить конструкции There+Be и It+Be в Simple (Indefinite) Active.

 

Задание 1. Study the following examples and translate them from Russian into English. Make the tasks below:

Impersonal «it»: Talking about weather (Examples: It’s raining. It’s cold. It was sunny yesterday.)

Identifying something (Who is it? - It’s me. What is it? - It’s a blackboard.)

Talking about time (What time is it? – It’s 5 o’clock. What day is it? – It’s Thursday.)

Talking about distance (How far is it from your house to your work? - It’s a five-minute walk.)

Impersonal «there» is used to say that something exists in a particular place (There is a book on desk.

                         There are some books on the desk)

Choose it or there:

1) (It/There) are many faculties at the university at present. 2) (It/There) takes me 15 minutes to get to the university. 3) (It/There) are many new books in our library next year. 4) (It/There) was my sister at home when I came. 5) (It/There) is a medical college within our University. 6) (It/There) is something interesting in this article. 7) (It/There) is a requirement to come to classes on time. 8) (It/There) are 15 students in our group.

Задание 2. Give the plural form of the following nouns:

Задание 3. Give the singular of the following nouns:

Women, teeth, feet, children, friends, lives, studies, dresses, brushes, boxes, diseases, results, techniques, purposes, fields, histories, lamps.

 

Задание 4. Give the plural form of the following nouns ending of –F/-FE:

Shelf, life, knife, proof, scarf, wife, safe, self, leaf, loaf, wolf, chief.

Задание 5. Give the plural form of the following nouns:

Phenomenon, crisis, stimulus, index, formula, datum, nucleus, criterion, analysis, apparatus, basis, appendix, hypothesis, vertebra.

Повторить Местоимение (личные, объектные, притяжательные).

 

Задание 6. Translate into English the pronouns in brackets:

1) (Его) ______ notebook is nice. 2) (Наша) ______ laboratory is large. 3) Dress (ваши) ______ white coats in the laboratories and dissecting-rooms. 4) (Её) ______ academic achievements are very high. 5) (Моя) ______ future profession is a dentist. 6) (Их) ______ group is the best at the University.

 

Задание 7. Fill in the gaps with the correct forms of the pronouns in brackets:

1) We have a lecture in Chemistry every Tuesday. ______ (It, Its) is a very interesting lecture. 2) We have two practical classes in Chemistry on Tuesday and Thursday. ______ (It, They) are more interesting than the lectures. 3) ______ (We, Our) first classes start at 8 o’clock in the morning.
