Dialogues

At the food shop

Susan is going to do some shopping. The first shop she goes to is the grocer's. She does not like supermarkets and big shops. She prefers smaller shops, where you can get personal service.

Mr. Atkins Good morning, Mss Bond.

Susan - Good morning. Mr. Atkins.

- How are you?

- Oh, fine. Thanks.

- Now, what can I do for you?

- I'd like a pound of butter, a dozen of eggs and half a pound of bacon, please.

- Anything else?

- Yes, a bottle of orange juice and a small packet of salt How much is that? Its a five pound note. I' m sorry, I haven't anything smaller.

- Oh, that s all right. Here is your change. Three pounds and ninety pence.

- Thank you.

Then Susan went to the greengrocery. A greengrocer sells fruits and vegetables. She bought there apples, bananas, tomatoes and a large cauliflower. She left the greengrocers and went next door. It was the butchery. She bought some meat there; some bread at the baker's and a bottle of milk at the dairy.
