Value-motivational structure of personality in the Russian culture 1

The results of the empirical research of individual values in two groups of Russian Ss (students and teachers) by Schwartz method are analyzed. The most preferred values of different generations are compared. The peculiarities of the value-motivational structure of personality in the Russian culture are revealed. There are interpreted distinguished empirically motivational types such as "Passionarity" and "Benevolence". Two hypotheses are advanced: (1) - about compensatory nature of individual and cultural values interaction: (2) - about the role of social-psychological mechanisms of basic cultural values defencse in unstable social conditions. Overall, the research proves the universal character of Schwartz theoretical model of motivational types and adequacy of his methods to study values for cultural specificity revealing.
