1. , . : , . : , . T: On the eve of the Sports Week in our school its time to speak about sports. Today you shall recollect the names of sports you already know, learn some new names of sports and we shall talk about sports you like and go in for. What names of sports do you know? Do Ex. 1, p. 161: look at the pictures and say what kinds of sport children go in for. ( : athletics, gymnastics, swimming, hockey, basketball, volleyball, figure skating, boating)
2. .   : . : , , , . T: 1) On the blackboard you can see the names of some other kind of sport their spelling and the transcription. Its easy to guess their meaning by the way they sound and they are spelt as the words are international. Listen to me and give their Ukrainian equivalents. ( : parachuting, surfing, judo, baseball, rugby, boxing) 2) Guess the sports. , : skiing, running, cycling, horse riding. 3) Now look at the pictures and guess the sports: wrestling, weighting, fencing, chess, draughts. Write down the words and their transcription into your dictionaries.

T: 1) Practice the words after me all together. 2) Read the transcription: P1, P2, P3 3) Ex. 2a, p. 162: Read the names of kinds of sports: P1, P2, P3 Wrestling, karate, weightlifting, hockey, tennis, golf, boating, horse riding, parachuting, running, athletics, figure skating, skiing, fencing, surfing, cycling, judo. Which of them are water sports / adventure sports / ball games / individual sports? 4) Look at the pictures and check if I give the correct names of sports. Agree or disagree with me. Correct me if Im wrong. Example: Its baseball. No, its not baseball. Its football. 5) Look at the pictures and name the sports. 6) Pantomime. Get a card with a sport. Imitate the movements that are characteristic to this sport. Let your groupmates guess the sport. 7) The names of sports can be used in different collocations. Fill in the gaps with play / go / do. a. running; b. athletics; c. skating; d. volleyball; e. aerobics; f. football; g. skiing. Keys: a) go; b) do; c) go; d) play; e) do; f) play; g) go. 8) What kind of sport do \ did the famous people go in for (do / play / go)? ( )

Decide what kind of information you would like to find out. Use the ideas to help you. - the most popular? - the least popular? - the most unusual? - Step 2. Ex. 3 b): Work in groups. Write six questions you would like to ask your friends. Use the ideas to help you. - What do you ? - What are ? - How long have you been ? - When did you ? - ? Step 3. Ex. 3 c): Move around the class talking to different children until you have asked everybody. Take notes. Step 4. Ex. 4, p. 162: Speak in class. Tell the class what you have found out.
