Identification and quantification of saponins in plant material and phytopreparation is an important analytical task due to the lack of universal methods and reference materials. Triterpene saponins possess unique pharmacological properties, such as hepatoprotective, cardiotonic, protivoskleroticheskim action and anticancer activity [1].

It is established that the main active ingredients herbal remedies containing saponins are glycyrrhizic acid, oleonolovaya acid and its glycosyl-aralosides A, B and C [2, 3, 4].

Thus, the purpose of this work - development of methods for identification and quantitative determination of saponins in plant material and preparations of licorice. To achieve this task have been studied conditions of chromatographic separation of saponins by thin layer chromatography (TLC). As objects of study were selected triterpenoid saponins - oleonolovaya and glycyrrhizic acid and hederozid. For accurate identification of saponins in plant facilities were used as standard samples oleonolovoy witnesses and glycyrrhizic acid.. Chromatography of the compounds was performed by ascending TLC on plates of different polarity (Silufol, Sorbfil on aluminum and polymer substrates, Sorbton-diol, Sorbton-C3 polyamide-C6, RP-C18).

As the mobile phase (MF) tested organic solvents acetonitrile, isopropanol, butanol, ethyl acetate, and mixtures thereof with water and buffer solutions in different ratios.

Manifestation of chromatographic zones saponins was performed by spraying the dried plates of 10% solution of ferric sulfate in 20% sulfuric acid. The studies found that the optimum conditions for chromatographic separation and identification oleonolovoy and glycyrrhizic acid and hederozida are: MF butanol - water in a ratio of 3:7 on plates Sorbfil. TLC methods have been developed separately and determine oleonolovoy glycyrrhizic acids, as well as in the preparation of licorice hederozida.
