Using the notes below and the useful expressoins compare and contrast the two types of

shops.

Corner shop Department store
pros: convenient, close to your house, open long hours, Sunday opening, friendly atmosphere, etc pros: cheap, wide choice of goods, competitive prices, centrally located, better service, more staff, pay by cheque or credit card, etc
cons: expensive, limited range of goods, limited choice of brands, etc cons: impersonal, crowded, noisy, access to them sometimes difficult because of road congestion

eg. Department stores can provide their customers with a great variety of products, whereas corner shops have a very limited range of goods.
