When the first four or five of them had jumped on shore, they took those three out of the boat as prisoners. Then I saw one of the thieves lifted to kill one of the poor men . , the blood . The thieves had other plans.
? [wɔz ˊfɪəɪŋ]   ? [wə: ˊθɪŋkɪŋ]   [æz su:n æz]     [dɪˊsɪd] , , , , : was I fearing in that time? , , ? Were we, I and Friday, thinking, ? , . , shore. There was no less than ten men in her, ten armed men. As soon as they came to the place where their other boat lay, they ran all on shore and then they brought their boat near the shore, which I was glad to see. The first thing they did, they ran all to their other boat. And it was easy to see that they were most surprised that they had not anyone found. Then they decided to go all on board again, to their ship.
[sərˊpraɪz] ? [ɑ: ˊbi:ɪŋ led] However, they had not long gone but we saw all coming on shore again. This was a great surprise to us. Have they decided or, it was worse, are they being led by the oldest and worst man of them, ?
[ɑ: ˊbi:ɪŋ ˊwʌ:rɪd]     [ɪz nɔt ˊbi:ɪŋ θɔ:t] Are they being worried and frightened ? , , , a whole plan is not being thought, spoken and considered by them.
['ksələnt] [meɪt] / [tu li:d] [ɪz nɔt nəun]   .., [ðə , ðə] They cried again, shot and then went to the hill top, first seven, then eight men. I caught an excellent idea. I sent Friday and captain's mate to the forest to cry and call "the thieves" to lead them into . Indeed, the forest is not known them and they, perhaps, will lose the way. The farther into the forest, the worse.
? [ɑ: kənˊfaundɪd]     , - [ðə rest]   [əˊtæk]   ? [ʃæl bi: ʃɔt] //? [wɪl hæv ˊbi:ɪŋ dɪsˊkʌrɪʤd] . , . Are they confounded ? Perhaps, yes. In this time we had caught two men near the boat. However, after some hours the rest all had returned. I waited while and I decided to make a last attack. But I have been worried and the long time have thought, "Shall we be shot and fought by them? Or will they have been confounded, frightened and descouraged so that they will not fight against us?
[lud]   [fɔ:]   [səˊrendə] [ˊsə:tənlɪ]   , [hʌnt] . One of my men called as loud as he could to one of thieves, Smith! Tom Smith answered just now, Who is that? Robinson Alan? For he knew this voice. Then Alan said, Smith, for God's sake, put your arms! Surrender! Or you, certainly, are all dead men! Whom must we surrender? Where are they?, asked Smith again. they are. Here now our captain is and fifty men with him, have been hunting you this two hours, and if you do not surrender, you are all lost.
In a word, they all put down their arms and saved their lives.

VICTORY

( ) [ʃud əˊtæk] [wɪl nɔt hæv ˊbi:ɪŋ ˊtrʌbld] We had fought and overpowered, we had the victory, but now we should attack the ship. It was plainly that, , men on the ship will not have been frightened, worried or troubled before we shall come to the ship.
[ˊbɪznɪs] [ʃɔ:t] I did not think it was right for us to go with seamen of the ship. Indeed, they had made their business very well, in the shortest time.
[ˊmɪdˏnaɪt]     [ʃud rɪz] [ˊkʌmɪŋ] [ˊstrʌk] They came to the ship about midnight. As soon as they had come, the captain said to Alan to call them and to tell them they had brought the men and the boat and they should rise and go on the board. The captain and the mate, coming first with their arms, struck , killed them. Then they with men took the rest thieves.
? [ʃud du:]   [ʃud nɔt steɪ] [fri:] [rum]   [ɪə]   [ˊfulɪ] When this was done, what should they do? At once, the captain ordered the mate to come . The captain should not stay, see, wait and leave thieves free and alive. They had come into the room, where the new captain lay, and shot him through the head. The bullet, coming at his mouth, came out again behind one of his ears so that he never spoke a word. Then the ship was taken fully, without any more lives lost.
[ˏəuvəˊpauərɪŋ]   [ˊstændɪŋ]   () [klɔk] As soon as the ship was so taken, the overpowering captain ordered to fire with seven guns, which I, standing on the hill and waiting that, was very glad to hear, though near two of the clock in the morning.
, () [meɪ] [sli:p]   [ˊgʌvərnə]   [ˊʃəuɪŋ] [ɪmˊbreɪs]   [lænd]   , [mɪt nɔt] [ˊfɔ:lɪŋ] At last I thought that I may rest in my house and I may sleep very well, before I was something surprised with the noise of a gun. I heard a man called me by the name of " Governor, Governors and just I knew the captain's voice. Showing to the ship, he came to me and embraced me. My best friend, he said, there is your ship, for she is all yours, and so are we all. Indeed, the ship lay in a kilometre of the shore, near the place, where I had first landed. Suddenly, I understood that I might not answer him one word, I might not stand, I might not say. Falling, I got in his hands.
(: ") [rɪˊfreʃmənt] But soon I got good again. After we had talked some time, the captain told me he had brought me some little refreshment, by the way, Madeira wine. Also, he had brought excellent clothes and dressed me from head to foot.
[ˊdresɪŋ] / [ni:d] It was a very good and beautiful clothes, but, dressing it, I found it so uncomfortable and bad as if you, gentlemen, need dress a savages clothes!
/ [hæv tu meɪk] , [ˊli:vɪŋ] , / [ˊhəuldɪŋ] After these things were made, we began to consider what we have to make with the prisoners. I told him that leaving them upon the island is my opinion. Holding them here would be the best word of Governor. I should be very glad of that, the captain said.
; [ˊli:dɪŋ]     // [hæv tu li:d] I ordered about leading prisoners to me. I had come there, dressed in my new Governor clothes, and the captain with me. I told prisoners the captain and I have to lead them to England and there they will be hung. However, I have decided to go with my men to England and to leave them here alone.
They were very glad for it, they would better stay here than to return to fatherland and to be hung. Hence, I left it so.
Suddenly, the captain began loud to speak against it. Upon it I showed my little anger and told him that they were my prisoners, not his. So I gave them freedom and the whole island.
Having done all this, I left them the next day and went on board of the ship. The weather was very good and we began to sail. Before that I had taken my goatskin clothes and one of my parrots, my honest fellow, who was glad to hear me and to speak with me and whom I was always glad to see and to hear. He was one of my younger true friends lived with me twenty-and-eight years, two months and nineteen days on this island, Island of Despair and now, I may say, Island of Joy.
