TV is one of the best inventions the man has ever made. Thanks to TV we get a great number of information.It gives wonderful possibilities for education. It enriches our intellect. We also become better informed by watching documentaries, science programmes, discussions and by learning the most important issues of the day. We know about people in our country and in other lands and learn about their customs, occupations, traditions, problems. Television helps us to relax after a hard day's work, so we can then cope better with the next day's work. Besides, there is a considerable amount of TV programmes: News, different talk-shows, TV games, concerts and variety shows, sport programmes, feature films, serials and so on and so forth. They are of great entertainment value and provide useful topics for conversation. A lot of these programmes are very popular. TV is doing a lot of harm. It occupies a lot of free time. People used to have hobbies, to meet with friends, to go to the cinema or theatre, to read books, to listen to music. Nowadays many people sit watching TV hour by hour. Besides there is a lot violence on our TV screen.

Modern society can not imagine its life without computer. Everything people do in the modern world is controlled by computers. The reason of it is that computers have much better memories. They can store much information. So they are more efficient than people. But it does not mean that computers will take the place of human beings in everything.
The first calculating machine was invented by Charles Babbage. He was a professor of Mathematics at Cambridge University. Due to that fact we have nowadays our clever friend -a computer.
People mostly consider computers to be connected only with science. It is not so. Computers help us in our everyday activity, they help pupils and students to study different subjects and translate foreign texts, they even entertain us during our leisure.But there exist disadvantages concerning the use of computers. Among the most important ones we should mention poor health and eystrain. Besides, some people do not communicate with each.other because they live in artificial world of computers.

It's difficult to overestimate the role of science and technology in our life. Scientists investigate the laws of the universe, discover the secrets of nature. Let's compare our life nowadays with the life of people at the beginning of the 20th century. It has changed beyond recognition. Millions of investigations, the endless number of outstanding discoveries have been made. At first it was called the atomic age due to the discovery of the splitting of the atom. And now we live in the information era when the computer network embraces the globe and connects not only the countries and space stations but a lot of people all over the world. All these things prove the power and the greatest progressive role of science in our life.

Although BELTELECOM is creating a digital network in Belarus according to the Programme for the Development of Telecommunications in Belarus through the Year 2000, the company wants to moderniz and develop of local telephones networks (local and rural).
In spite of tight economic situation, local telephone networks develop at a high speed. There an several contracts signed with foreign companies for delivery and installation of digital switching equipment for local telephone networks. Some projects are already underway. Thanks digitalization projepct Belarus will be able to provide the grade of quality to the intenational telecommunication standards, extend the range of service offerings, introduce "electronic money" and improve the living standards of population.

It is possible because thousands of networks are connected to Internet. The world wide web (WWW) is a part of the Internet. It is information that is connected together like a web. You can see different performances, read new novels, find the descriptions of various thins. You can play computer games and meet new friends. The Internet is a great invention of the 20-th century. It becomes more and more popular from day to day.
My future profession.
When I was a fifth-former I dreamt of becoming a teacher. I wanted to be a teacher of mathematic and teach children. But then I noticed. Im not patient. And I gave up this idea. At that time I realized that I was found of Physics. I was always good at physics at school. When we got acquainted with the invention of Popov and others inventor I understood that I want to have a perfect command of these knowleges. So I do my best to master the physics and mathematics because I have made up my mind to apply to the Higher college of communication. After graduating from the college Ill become a technical of the telecommunication. This profession interesting and necessary in our society.

We use telephone not only at work bat at home too.Besides a few years ago we started to use mobile portable phones.And now we can talk to each other being in different places.Nowadays fax has gained in popularity as a means of transmitting written messages quickly and inexpensively.Plus nowadays people also are able to share information through computers, using the Internet.Internet brings together 2000 other networks in 35 countries. One more way of getting and exchanging information is radio transmission and TV broadcasting.Thanks to these sources of information we always know what happens in the world every day and every hour.Its difficult to imagine our life without all these means of communication.
