Reported Speech

There are two ways of reporting what a person says:

- Direct speech (reports the exact words the speaker says)

- Indirect speech (does not report the speakers exact words)

We change general questions and alternative questions into reported speech with IF:

He asked me if I knew when the film would be released.

We change special questions with the help of question words that they start with.

She asked me what the name of the film we watched the day before had been.
