Reported Speech
There are two ways of reporting what a person says:
- Direct speech (reports the exact words the speaker says)
I have always depended on the kindness of strangers, Blanche said.
- Indirect speech (does not report the speakers exact words)
Blanche said she had always depended on the kindness of strangers.
