INTRODUCTION
Goals and Tasks of the Discipline, its place in the academic process.
The discipline "Sociology" is a component part of the fundamental course of humanitarian disciplines, called for increasing the limits of comprehension the social processes, taking place in modern society.
Sociology as the major element of social sciences analyses the main global social problems of contemporaneity and supposes the decision of questions, linked to social processes and phenomena of modern time.
Goals of the discipline are as follows:
- assimilating lectures materials on Sociologyin English;analysing a special literaturein English;
- getting abilities for realising a logical analysis and discuss on the main problems of modern Sociology and socialrelationsin English;
- to possess the ability for a clear and exact expression of ideas and thoughts in English, etc.
Prerequisites, necessary for studying the course 'Sociology':
For a successful mastering and perceiving of the given discipline student must have knowledge, given and taken during the studying such subjects as History, Philosophy, cultural and other social sciences.
Postrequisites of the discipline:
Economics, Regional studies, Contemporary Problems of International Relations etc.
The following main questions are examined in the course of "Sociology":
Subject, method, functions and conformities to natural laws of Sociology; main stages in the development of social thought;
- Social ideas and views of thinkers of the West;
- Social ideas and views of thinkers of Central Asia and the East;
- Basic paradigms of Sociology;
- Society: approaches, conceptual models and specificities;
The problems of socialization, its theories and specificities;
- The significance of culture; basic agents of social relations;
- The problems of development of a society in Kazakhstan.
