Concept on reflex arc. Types of reflex arcs. Role of synapses in polarization of reflex arc.

Reflex arc - a sequence of connected chain of nerve cells, which provides implementation reaction, response to stimulation.
The reflex arc consists of six components: a receptor, the afferent path of the reflex center, efferent pathways, the effector (the working body) feedback.
Reflex arcs can be of two types:
1) simple - monosynaptic reflex arc (reflex arc tendon reflex), consisting of two neurons (receptor (afferent) and effector), among them there is one synapse;
2) complex - polysynaptic reflex arc. It is composed of three neurons (there may be more) - receptor, one or more intercalary and effector.

Reflex time depends on the complexity of the reflex arc (ie, the number of central synapses), strength of stimulation and level of excitability of the central nervous system (such as severe irritation, it is shorter than a weak, with an increase in the excitability of the nerve centers, it is reduced, and when tired - longer and etc.).
