The Kaluga Branch of BMSTU is a large educational center of training engineers and managers.

It was established in 1959as the Kaluga Evening Faculty. The characteristic features of the KB are its close connection both with Bauman University and the local industrial plants.

The KB is the largest one of 6 University's Branches. It has got 5 educational buildings, a lot of classrooms and lecture-halls, educational and experimental laboratories and workshops at its disposal. There are about 400 teachers and 3000 students 28 institute departments at the Institute. Professors and Doctors of science as well as associate professors and candidates of science and senior teachers deliver lectures to our students. Some of our teachers are members of Russian and Foreign Academies of Sciences.

Students attend lectures, seminars and laboratory classes. The course of studies lasts 5 years and 10 months and leads to the Diploma of engineering.

Like BMSTU the Kaluga Branch introduces the European standard of Education into practice, offering its students the multi-level training in 2 degree programs: Bachelor of Engineering and Master of Engineering.

The structure of our institute is as follows. It consists of 6 full-time faculties: Materials and Technology (), Mechanical Materials and Manufacturing Engineering (), Electronics, Informatics and Control Systems (), Fundamental Sciences (), Social and Economic Sciences () and Pre-University Training ( ).There is also the International Relationship Department which provides our students with an opportunity to go abroad for internship and foreign students study here.

Each faculty, in its turn, is supported by several departments, general engineering and specialized ones. The specialized departments give the students the advanced knowledge in 16 fields (specialties). If you want to be a programmer, for example, try to enter the Fundamental Sciences Faculty but you may become an engineer-technologist if you choose the Materials and Technology Faculty.

According to the University academic curricula the first-and-the second-year students study both general engineering subjects such as Higher Mathematics, Technical Drawing, Descriptive Geometry, Physics and Chemistry and humanities - Foreign and Russian Languages, History etc.

The third-and-the fourth-year students study the specialized disciplines within the field of their specialization.

The best graduate students may continue their studies in the 7th year to receive the qualification of a developer-engineer.

In 1995 the Kaluga Branch has set up the post-graduate course in order to raise professional level of young teachers and talented graduate students. Our students have also an opportunity to receive additional education in Economics and Foreign Languages.

During its 45-years-old history the KB has trained over 16.000 highly qualified and highly skilled engineers who has occupied higher-level posts in industry, commerce and administration.
