Introduction
Course Aim and Objectives
The course “Culturology” is intended to provide students with knowledge of the theoretical aspects of the phenomenon of culture, to form a holistic picture of the global cultural process in its structural and historical aspects. As an integrative socio-humanitarian scientific discipline culturology is a necessary component of professional training in all areas of human activity. The study of society through its culture is extremely important nowadays, because it became clear that only economic and political characteristics can not give a full understanding of social phenomena.
As a result of learning a discipline, students should gain knowledge:
- of fundamental categories and concepts of cultural process;
- of basic theories of culture;
- of mechanisms of cultural dynamics and the laws of evolution of culture in the context of different methodological approaches;
- of cultural history in its value-normative dimension;
- of the main problems of modern culture.
The study of culturology should ensure the formation of a competencies which are an important part of professional skills of future economists, the ability:
- to socially-critical thinking with regard to socio-cultural reality, to critical perception of socio-cultural transformations;
- to predictive modeling of socio-cultural processes, creative thinking;
- to make adequate economic decisions and their optimal implementation, taking into account all the complex socio-cultural factors on the basis of integrative humanitarian-oriented knowledge;
- to adapt themselves to life in a holistic and dynamic multicultural, multiconfessional world;
- to dialogue with representatives of different value systems.
- to identify cultural potential of contemporary social processes;
- to reveal the humanistic aspects of the economy, politics, education;
- to assess the impact of cultural factors on economic processes;
- to religious and cultural tolerance.
The subject of discipline - the culture as a way of human existence, the laws and the main features of its development.
Contents of discipline is implemented in three blocks – theoretical, practical and individual work.
