Itinerary

Day 0 1: Arrival in Lhasa - Lhasa TrainStation Pick Up

Upon your arrival at the Lhasa trainstation, your tour guide will greet you and escort you to your hotel and help you get checked in. You will have the rest of the day and evening to rest and relax to become acclimatized to the higher altitude of Tibet.

Travel Tip:

With its much higher elevation, some visitors may experience symptoms of altitude sickness. We recommend taking everything slowly, getting plenty of rest the first day and staying very well hydrated by drinking plenty of water to minimize the effects of the high altitude. Usually you will fine by the second day, but if you do experience severe and/ or worsening symptoms, please contact your tour guide or a member of our staff immediately.

Day 0 2: Lhasa City The Old City- Barkhor Street (B)

You will have the whole morning to rest and relax to become acclimatized to the higher altitude of Tibet. At afternoon you will see the real Lhasa, well stroll through Barkhor Street with its thriving local market where you can pick up some local Tibetan, Nepalese and Indian handicrafts and souvenirs.

 

Day 03: Lhasa - Yamdrotso Lake - Shigatse (10 hrs, 370km) (B)

After fully explore Lhasa, youll have a chance to get lost in the endless Tibetan landscape while you take a short hike along the turquoise waters of Lake Yamdrok, one of the four holy lakes in Tibet. This dazzling lake is normally first seen from the summit of the Kamba-la (4700m). The lake lays several hundred metres below the road, and it is shaped like a coiling scorpion. Far in the distance is the huge massif of Mt. NojinKangstsang (7191m). Afterwards pass by the 5,010 m high Karo-la and the Simi La forward to Gyantse (3,950m).

In the afternoon drive about 90 kilometers to Shigatse (3880m), the second largest city with 40,000 inhabitants in Tibet and the traditional capital of the Tsang.

Day 04: Shigatse - RongbukMonastery(10hrs 350km) (B)

Today,youll drive to Tingri, the entrance of Himalayan Nature Reserve via the world highest pass Gyatso-la pass with 5200 m above sea level.While passing through the torrent and soaring mountains and the wild grassland, you can enjoy the stunning mountain scenery.

If weather permits, you can have a panorama view of Himalaya range with the top 4 highest mountains that are over 8,000m, including Mt. Lhotse (8516m), Mt. Everest (8848m), Mt. Qowowuyag (8201m) and Mt Mayalu (8463m). And you may even see the majestic golden summit of Mount Everest at sunset.

Day 05: Everest Base Camp- Saga (8hrs, 350km)

in the morning, you may see the sunrise appearing on the summit of Mount Everest and you can get to Everest Base Camp by local bus or trekking.

After visiting EBC, we need to drive to Saga Country via the old Tingri road, which passes through the desolate plain of Digur Tang. You can see the snow peaks of mount Everest and MoutShishapangma(8012m) en route. Then descending into the depression of PelkhutsoLake(4600m).

Finally, we will drive to Saga, a small town that is 69 km away from Pelkhutso Lake.

Day 06:Saga - Lake Manasarova -Darchen(12hrs, 500km)

In the morning, we will first driving about 167 km from Saga town to Drongpa County, which is at the sources of Brahmaputra River.

Next, we will make a small detour to the Lake Manasarovar, the holy lake of both Tibetan and Hinduism. You can a relaxing trip around the lake shore and experience the natural beauty of the Lake Manasarova with snow capped mountains on the background. You may also see many pilgrims praying and circling around the lake shore.

In late afternoon, we will reach Darchen, a small town at the foot of Mount Kailash. Our Tour guide will assist you to arrange trekking yaks and porters and doing some preparation for your following 3 days trekking around Mt.Kailash.

Lake Manasarovar:

Day 0 7: Trek Day One - Darchen to Drirapuk (6.5 hrs, 11km)

The Traditionally pilgrims undertake 52 km trekking circuit around Mount Kailash, commencing at Darchen (4574m) and crossing the Dolma-la pass on the second day of the three day walk. 8 kilometers after leaving Darchen with environment-friendly bus (40minutes), we get to a village called Sarshung, where porters are waiting for their clients. After two hours, we come upon a grassy plain populated by nomads. For this turn in the valley it is another two hours at least before reaching Drirapuk(4920m). You need to camp or can rest in monastery's guest house made from cement with a few good facilities than others in Drirapuk. At the opposite side of Drirapuk, there you can see small monastery with its guest house little cleaner than others.
