The danger of outcome over process

An object lesson in the risk of focused/focusing on outcome over process is provided by the financial crisis of 2007. Trade/Traders and financial marketers had been awarded/awarding massive bonuses for performance/performing over a number of years. The bonuses were calculated based/basing on how much money was made by the company, with no considering/consideration of how the money was made. The high stakes led employees/employers to deliver highly/higher leveraged products which delivered more profits. Of course, as it turns/turned out, this was based on sustainable/unsustainable levels of risk, which, eventually, crashed the whole system causing massive loses/losses and pain for all of society. If more attention had been made/paid to the process of generating/generation the short term profits, this could have been avoided.
