The situation is almost alike anywhere: incineration and disposal is taking place. Ineffective/unskillful waste sorting or lack of sorting at all.
On the first stage (when literally there are hills and mounts of solid waste and garbage) it would be wise to gather landfill gas to obtain energy.
Waste storage and accumulation is very dangerous. It goes against Nature. Human beings are part of Nature. To save Nature – is to save ourselves.
Actually garbage heaps are timebombs. If an earthquake appears in a garbage area – the collapse of toxic waste takes place. If atmospheric condensation takes place it leads to form great amounts of filtrate. There is no protection from it nowadays. I saw black creeks flowing from trash heaps. It accumulates below a rubbish dump and leaks into groundwater. Water gets poisonous. No water – no life.
Now we must think of how we can stop the wave of creating waste heaps. There is a simple solution. Garbage is a mix of wastes made by people, so people’s hands are now for sorting it out. No burning, no disposal. Let’s call it “Clean recycling”.
Clean recycling is already applied in Mayapur (Western Benghalia, India). The project “Temple of The Vedic Planetarium: Earth without waste” is in progress. I run this project.
The time of unskillful waste hand-picking, sorting and recycling is passing away now. All actions should be performed by real pros: engineers-inventors, economists and ecologists; with no government or business interference.
Illiteracy and Irresponsibility leads to a trouble. Politicians, businessmen and governors should pay the most attention to clean recycling. Thousands of people of occupations mentioned above are ignored by governments, the problem remains unsolved. The situation is getting worse. Now it’s time to change it. Let’s say no to waste incineration, let’s say no to disposal/flooding of waste. Humans are part of Nature. We can’t exist apart of it. 4. CLEAN RECYCLING: STAGES OF INTRODUCTION.
Waste collecting and recycling cycle starts within the city and finishes with trees planting at the former garbage area.
4.1 First stage (no investments and construction needed)
Population: 30 000 people (ISKCON Mayapur).
Storage conditions, time management and repayment period of the first stage of clean recycling introduction in Sri Dham Mayapur.
Waste storage and accumulating is to be run on protected area with a video surveillance.
The period of construction, training and launching of the recycle system is 2 months. The return of investments is provided by:
· Selling / Reselling SMR.
· Payments for waste transportation and utilization.
· Obtaining an income by selling multi-level flowerbeds, boards of recycled polymers and decoration stuff.
· Selling vegetables, fruit and plants.
More precise calculations are to be done by the time of signing an investment contract (which covers methods of collecting, transportation and recycling of waste).
Approximate money back period is 6 - 8 months.
4.2 Second stage. Constructing and launching the sorting flow.
Population: up to 100 000 people. (ISCKON Mayapur – 2018)
Involving material investments and minimal recycling equipment
The second stage takes place at the moment of construction and accumulation of funds obtained by running the waste-sorting conveyor line. The period of construction is 1 month. Capacity and power of equipment (and some other values) are calculated on the assumption of a place’s conditions and current recycling activities been done.
fig.4 Sorting tables of Mayapur, more and more are built with increasing volumes of solid waste.
The main goal of the stage is to sort out garbage and to sell the outcome without deep processing, with minimum investments. Number of building’s floors is calculated depending on the equipment and volumes of waste sorting. More waste sold – more investments back. After the return of investments and getting the income – it’s time to install the equipment to get the maximum efficiency.
Exact and precise calculations are supposed to be done by summer of 2015, after construction and results and money-back of the first stage.
4.3 Stage 3. Full set.
Population: up to 1 000 000 people.
The approximate cost is 1.5 million $ (including delivery, installation, adjustments and customs affairs)
The features:
● A recycling complex is to be situated in residential area or nearby. (Less transportation time, money, distance)
● No presswork to be applied
● 100% recycling
●Hazardous waste is to be transported to specialized recycling factories.
Only a systematic and professional approach to a problem of waste leads to a good ecological and economical result. The coordination and cooperation of businessmen and a government is the key to this problem’s salvation. The partnership between them is the only right way to introduce clean recycling to the planet.
The first thing to start with is to create and register a local professional organization for purposes of transportation, recycling and applying the waste; selling waste with no incineration or disposal.
This report describes processes of implementation of stages 1 and 3. Suggested ways, methods and approaches of working have been tested and approved by us and other organizations.
