The mathematical tool of linear finite-state machines (LFSM)as the main theoretical basis for the stream ciphers with using of the shift registers is suggested. Possible typical tasks of stream enciphering from a point of view of LFSM theory are formulated. Cryptographic properties of the multichannel LFSM are considered and methods of increase of a speed and cryptofirmness of the ciphers on its basis are offered.
Key words: stream cipher, linear finite-state machine, shift register, automation, enciphering, cryptofirmness, nonlinear function.
