V. G. Kamenskaya*, S. V. Zvereva**

* Doctor sci. (psychology), professor, head of the chair of psychophysiology of a child, A. I. Gertsen RSPU, St. - Petersburg

** Cand. sci. (psychology), docent, the same place

The aim of this study was the research of psychological sex, psychological defenses, extent of expression of extra-, introversion and neuroticism. The sample consisted of 140 people, 11 - 12 and 16 - 17 years old. There were discovered age-specific decrease of using of primitive ego-defensive mechanisms and the defensive psychological system in girls is more mature. Gender-specific features of defensive psychological system had an effect on frequency of primitive defenses usage such as repression, displacement and regression. The masculine boys and feminine girls have sex-adequate defensive psychological system. The subjects with inverted psychological sex have gender-nonspecific inclusions in defensive psychological system: boys and youth - a regression, girls - a displacement, adolescent girls - a compensation. It is found that defensive psychological system in masculine subjects is more mature independently on age and gender.

Key words: sex and gender, defensive psychological system, masculinity, femininity, a level of extra-introversion, neuroticism.
