When I go to an international professional conference I want to do the following:
- listen to a presentation by a "big name" in my field;
- meet "big names";
- make new contacts for possible exchanges;
- learn new methods / techniques;
- make a professional presentation;
- share ideas with colleagues who have interests in common with me;
- become active in the professional organization;
- get an overview of current directions in my field so that I can summarize them for local colleagues.

INVITATION
Dear Colleague, Vienna, May 2005
We are pleased to invite you to the second meeting on "Aspects of pathogenesis and management of Lyme borreliosis and other tick transmitted diseases" to be held in Vienna, 28-30 September 2005.
The main aim of the meeting is to bring together people currently working on aspects of pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment and prophylaxis of tick-born diseases, and to establish contacts between them.
The venue is the Main Lecture Theatre of the Teaching Centre of the University Hospital, Level 7 and 8. A series of lectures will be held on various topics and we are glad that so many internationally renowned scientists and clinicians in this field could follow our invitation.
Additionally to the lectures, there will be room for posters.
It is one of the aims of ' the organizers to publish most of the presentations in one of the scientific journals listed in the major international data bases such as Medline. The instructions for authors will be found in the internet.... and are also attached.
All presenters of posters are kindly invited to hand out their manuscripts of their original work at the registration desk.
During the symposium, quick lunch will be served in the lobbies of the Teaching Centre from 12.30 to 13.30. There will also be coffee breaks in the morning and afternoon.
The Registration Fees include access to all lectures, poster presentations, three lunches and five coffee breaks.
