IV Listen to the text. Letter to Sean

My dear Sean,

How lvl to get your letter! umm is right!

I will really enjoy helping yu with your schoolwork, and I will try very hard to rmmbr what it was like when I was little gir1 ll those years ago. When the war started, I was just five and Ill nvr forget watching m grandfather dig big black hole in the back garden. This was ur air raid shelter. At first I was rll scared of going into it. Every time the siren went off, I started trembling and I was sick, actually sick with fear. I refused to lv m bed. I didnt find it easy to get used to sleeping in that shelter. But soon, living in the cities was so dangerous that the government decided to send ll the children away to the countryside. I think I was lucky because I was bl to go away to m aunts. Some children were forced to stay with total strangers. aunt lived in small town, called Alston, high in the hills, not too far from Newcast1e. And guess what Sean, she had sweet shop! Mrs. Crosiers Sweet Shop. But, oh dear m, at first I was so unh, I couldnt stop crying because I couldnt help worrying about m mother back hm. aunt let m have as mn sweets as I wanted, but I was too miserable to eat mn. Silly m! Most children didnt have the chance of getting lots of sweets because sweets were rationed. That meant that you couldnt buy ll you wanted. Yu were only allowed to buy small amount. Lots of other things were rationed, too. It was almost impossible to get butter, rm, meat, fruit, vegetables, and petrol. We did without lot of things during the war. Can you believe that just after it ended someone gave m banana and I didnt know what to do with it?

Sean, I h this is useful. Im longing to see you ll. Give m lv to umm, Daddy and Liam. Dont worry; hell b much mr fun soon.

Lots of lv and kisses, Grandma
