I like my summer holidays very much. It is warm and I spend a lot of time in the open air. Sometimes at the end of summer I go to the country to see my grandmother and grandfather. They have a big house and I like to help them. There is always much work to do. I water the plants, feed the animals and help my Grany about the house. I usually have a nice time in the country. The UK is made up of four countries: England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The capital of the UK is London. The United Kingdom is a monarchy and the Queen is the head of the state. Great Britain is a country with old cultural traditions and customs. The most famous educational centres are Oxford and Cambridge universities.
12. Hobby
A hobby is something you like to do in your free time. Some people make something, grow plants or collect things. A lot of people do sports in their free time. Some people are fond of traveling or gardening. Different people like doing different things.
I spend a lot of time on my homework but in the evenings I have enough free time to do my hobby. My hobbies are reading, playing LEGO and roller skating. I like reading very much. I read interesting books, usually about magic.
I like to play LEGO. I have built a lot of houses from LEGO blocks and I like to do it.
Im fond of roller skating. I can roller skate but I want to skate better. Ive done skating for about 6 months. Im proud that I could learn to roller skate so quickly.
I think that my hobbies are exciting!
14. London
London is the capital of Great Britain. It is one of the largest cities in the world and the largest city in Europe. Its population is about 8 million. London is situated on the river Thames. The city is very old. It has more than 20 centuries old history. It is divided into several parts: the City, Westminster, the West End and the East End. They are very different from each other. The city has many places of interest: Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Tower of London, Trafalgar square, Hyde park and other.
15. Astana
Astana is the capital of Kazakhstan. It is big and modern. The population of the city is over 800 thousand people. Astana is a center for business and for tourism. There are many theatres, museums, cinemas in Astana. There are many beautiful large parks. You can have a very good time there. I want to tell you some sights of my native city: The monument of Baiterek, The Circus, The entertainment Centre of Duman, Khan Shatyr Entertainment Center
We can say that Astana is an educational center. There are many technical colleges, institutes and universities. The best known are: Euroasian University, Agrarian University, Nazarbayev University. Many young people from different regions of our country and from different countries come to Astana to get a brilliant education.
16. Health care
The remedy is worse than the disease, an English proverb says. Yes, that's true and we may add that good health is better than the best medicine. If your health is good, you are always in a good mood. In Britain today people are putting time, money, and energy into keeping well and keeping fit. Health care's important. So is diet. And so is fitness!
If you're ill in Britain, you go to see your GP. A GP is a general practitioner, or family doctor.
Medicine helps people get better, diet helps them stay healthy. If you eat well, you'll probably have a longer and healthier life. Nowadays British people eat less red meat and more fresh fruit and vegetables than in the past. New medicines and better diet have raised life expectancy.
