Ex. 18. Work out the Moscow News editorial and be ready to

A) act out an interview with the Moscow News Editor-in-Chief (work in pairs);

DEAR READERS,

It has become a tradition in the new year's first issue to send our renders season's greetings and tell them about the Moscow News' plans for the year.

Those of you who have been reading this paper for some time must have noticed that its make-up and arrangement of columns changes with time, its main goal remains unchanged, and this is to tell you how Russian people live, work, and spend their leisure, what they dream, worry and care about; to promote peace in the world, to further mutually beneficial cooperation among nations.

Following your requests, we shall continue our "Travel with MN" column. Our correspondents will take you to Latvia, Tatarstan, Western Siberia, and the Altai area, as well as to the old Russian cities of Torzhok, Uglich, Kalinin, etc. The five winners of the "What Do You Know About Russia?" - Competition will also tell you about their trips to Britain.

As usual, we are going to cover major international, events and offer commentary by analysts on both foreign and domestic issues along with interviews with statesmen and public figures, scientists, writers, etc, n topical problems.

THE MOSCOW NEWS will keep you well-versed in cultural news, the life of Moscow and Muscovites, the latent developments in Russian science, and family problems. Of course, we shall keep you informed of major sports events, including the traditional MOSCOW NEWS-sponsored gymnastics and figure-skating tournaments. For the readers wishing to learn English, the foreign language editions of THE MOSCOW NEWS will open a new course. Accidentally, the English language course has been named MN's most popular and useful column. Many regular readers have started writing to us in English.

In the New Year we are looking forward to new letters with comments and wishes and shall be glad to answer them.We congratulate readers on the New Year and wish everyone happiness and all the best. May the New Year bring peace to all the peoples, to each country and to each family.
