Ex. 18.2. Translate a scrap of dialogue below about Customs Control of a vessel / an aircraft into Russian, sentence by sentence:

1. What formalities must a person in charge of a vessel or aircraft go through on arrival in the country? 1. The person in charge of a vessel or aircraft must answer the Customs officer's questions and produce the necessary documents in authorized form as to means of conveyance, its cargo and crew.
2. What information must be reported to the Customs Officer? 2. Information about any type of articles and goods brought in or taken out must be reported to the Customs officer.
3. What are the responsibilities of the Customs officer on duty when a ship (or an aircraft) arrives? 3. The Customs officer must inspect the means of conveyance and seal up those premises on board a vessel (or aircraft) that contain those goods or articles which may not be landed (or taken ashore).
4. Can the seals be removed by the master or the crew? 4. No person, except the customs authority, can break or erase the seals.
5. Why are personal effects of the crew and passengers examined? 5. Personal effects of the crew and passengers are examined because any ship or aircraft is liable to rummage for contraband.
6. What are the Customs regulations in respect of undeclared things? 6. Undeclared things are liable to forfeiture, so they may be seized.
7. In what cases is a ship (or an aircraft) rummaged? 7. It depends on its route, type of cargo and intelligence data. It's rummaged if there are any grounds for the Customs to suspect that the ship may carry some contraband.  
8. What documents must the master (the captain) produce to the Customs authorities prior to departure? 8. The person in charge must produce the outward documents and state in them the changes which took place during the stay in the country.
9. When will the Customs officer grant a permit for the ship (or the aircraft) to depart? 9. The Customs officer must inspect the means of coneyance, check the places under seal and remove the seals, examine the crews personal effects and see to it that formalities are cleared. Upon payment of all duties and clearing all the formalities the Cusroms officer grants a permit to depart.
