I. Saint Petersburg is my native city. It is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Our city was founded by Peter the Great in 1703. On May 27 1703 Peter an Paul Fortress was founded on Zayachy Island. That date became the birthday of our city.
In 1712 Peter the Great moved the Russian capital to the new city on the banks of the NevaRiver. The new capital of Russia became very important. It remained the capital for 200 years.
