Recordings - the Voice of Aleister Crowley

There are only eleven different recordings by Aleister Crowley. They are as follows:

1. The Call of the First & Second Aethyr in English & Enochian

2. La Gitana

3. One Sovereign For Woman

4. The Poet

5. At Sea

6. Fingernails

7. The Titanic

8. Hymn To The American People

9. Collects From The Gnostic Mass

10. Sorites

11. Pentagram

Note: No.'s 1-9 are found on two different lp album versions: one has a solid black cover with only a unicursal hexagram and originates from The Hastings Archives, England 1986; the second album shows an aging Aleister Crowley pointing his finger, also originating from England, no date. No.'s 1-9 are also found on two CD's: the first has a solid blue cover with a gold unicursal hexagram on the front & an AA Sigil on back, London, no date; the second has a close up of Crowley's face, highlighting his eyes with an AA Sigil on his forehead and is titled Aleister Crowley, The Great Beast Speaks, also produced in London, no date.

There was a cassette tape released by The Occult Emporium from Allentown, PA in 1984 titled Three Hymns For Man which contains No's 5, 7 & 10.

There was also a 45 rpm (single) released entitled The Voice of Aleister Crowley: Pentagram & La Gitana by Sothis/Forum Group Agency, England, in the mid-seventies. According to the Crowley Cross-Index by W.Parfitt & A Drylie (1976) there is also another 45rmp release in the mid-seventies from Marabo records in England entitled 'A Voice of A Dead Man' but actually Marabo and the Sothis/Forum Group Agency 45 rpm are one and the same release. Marabo being the record company & Sothis/Forum Group Agency being the distributors.

DUE TO THE PRACTICE OF BOOTLEGGING IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO LIST ALL THE RELEASES. WE HAVE CHOSEN TO LIST ONLY THE MOST AVAILABLE WHICH INCLUDE AT LEAST ONE OF EACH OF CROWLEY'S RECORDINGS. THE ONLY RECORDING NOT LISTED IS THE HYMN TO PAN WHICH IS PRESUMED LOST.

REMARKS ON THE METHOD OF RECEIVING LIBER LEGIS...

The Equinox of the Gods, pg. 94 HB, 1936

Note: Although this is merely Chapter VII in The Equinox of the Gods, a footnote states; "This paper was written independently of any idea of its present place in this book, by The Beast 666 Himself, in the Abbey of Thelema in Cefalu, Sicily." We include it as a separate entry for this very reason.
