Note: There are two Aleister Crowley poems in a letter from Gerald Yorke to the bookdealer Harold Mortlake. The first is very short and titled "Oh Mummy." The second poem is called "A Good Time Coming". Yorke notes that these were unknown to him, and they appear to be unpublished.

Note: This essay is simply Chapter 49 of The Confessions (1969), renamed by the present editors of Magick. In the original proofs of The Confessions this essay comprised two chapters; 49 & 50. They became united when it was published in 1969 into just chapter 49. The poem at the beginning of On the reception of the Book of the Law is found scribbled on the top of the original proof and is the first lines of Crowley's poem Dionysus. It was omitted when The Confessions was published.
