Present Continuous and Past Continuous

We use Present Continuous when we talk about:

- Actions in progress at the present moment.

Ex.: I cant come to your place now I am translating text from Russian into English.

- Actions happening around now, but not at the moment of speaking.

Ex.: I am reading Tolstoys War and Peace now.

We use Past Continuous:

- To describe a situation in progress in the past. This is often contrasted with a sudden situation in past simple tense.

Ex.: I was having my lunch when the phone rang.

We can use WHILE and WHEN for past continuous tense.

Ex.: While I was reading a newspaper, she was talking on the phone.
