Ex. 18. Learn some of the idioms and write a story using the additional vocabulary. Here is a story written by a first-year student:

Once, after learning English idioms I had a strange dream: I went for a walk by myself late in the evening and didnt notice how I got lost. I was so frightened that I was almost ready to be gathered to my fathers. My mother often sees such dreams, so you understand: like mother like daughter. Well, I tried to find the way. My aunt! I found my house, but it was situated in an awful place. I hadnt felt such horror since my auntie had her accident: my hair stood on ends and my heart went into boots. I gathered all my courage, opened the door and tiptoed inside. There was not a mothers son, nor a sole there. Suddenly I saw an ugly old woman, who started shouting at me: What do you want here, a child of shame? I know each son of a sea cook likes to poke his nose into other peoples business and wants to have his finger in every pie. So do you. Excuse me. If only you could help Dont teach your grandmother to suck eggs. If my aunt had been a man, she would have been my uncle. Get out of here! I understood her to be a dangerous old wife and rushed away I woke up! With my hand on my heart Ive told you all the truth. Now I put my foot down.
