Technical thinking is a complex of intellectual processes and their results that provide a solution to the problems of professional and technical activities (designing, processing, occurring during the activity).

Development of technical thinking is evaluated according to the results of solving complex engineering problems of varied difficulty. As an indicator of technical thinking development is used a well-known taxonomy of learning domains that was identified by a group of American scientists led by B. Bloom. Six categories are distinguished in the analysis of cognitive side of students personality. They are arranged by the degree of complexity of the cognitive activity: knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, evaluation.

There is a set of multilevel tasks for enhancing learning and developing student's technical thinking. They are based on the method of Bloom's taxonomy and used to reinforce, review and summarize learned material on the topic in the class, during final evaluation and in student's self-guided work.
