Universitas 21 Global was formed in 2001, a joint venture between 16 Universitas 21 universities and Thomson Learning (part of the Thomson Corporation).

Based in Singapore, Universitas 21 Global launched its Masters of Business Administration programme in May 2003. Teaching commenced in July 2003, and Universitas 21 Global currently enrols students from more than fifteen countries around the world.
