There are presented the results of theoretical and empirical research of psychological phenomenon of self-knowledge within the framework of psychology of a man being in the world. The relation of cognitive and existential aspects of the problem is analyzed. Three main sources of self-knowledge are described; personal traits and psychological peculiarities of thinking comprising the structure of self-knowledge are elicited. Two hypotheses were verified on the sample of 77 Ss: 1) the strcuture of self-knowledge consists of three main components: personal, reflexive and communicative ones; 2) when growing up (from youth up to oldster) motivational and value significance of self- knowledge is increasing. Both hypotheses were confirmed.
Key words: psychology of human being, actor, self- knowledge, self-understanding, reflection, personal traits.
