Limited joint-stock company AZOV, taking into account customers requests, built a new covered wagon, model 11-9553, for transportation of light weight piled freights, requiring weather protection on railways with a gauge of 1520mm.

This plant, along with tank-wagons production, produces container tank-wagons (1SS type) with the capacity of 2125 thousand liters for storage and transportation by motor, railway and sea transport of liquid and solidifying freights of 3-9 types of danger (according to the UNO classification); gas, liquefied under pressure; and other liquid freights including food stuffs.

As to the original designs, made at Dneprvagonmash, and having no analogues in home and foreign wagon building, we should mention the creation of a specialized wagon of 10-4022 model with raising body for transportation of apatite concentrate from concentration plant to the places of its mass consumption. A wagon represents a whole metal welded structure, consisting of low frame and a moving body, equipped with special travelers, mounted on this frame vertically.

Loading of this wagon is performed mechanically with the help of chutes or belt conveyors through four dump loading hatches, located along the longitudinal axis of a wagon roof. Covers of loading hatches in closed position are automatically fixed by special devices. Unloading is carried out automatically at the expense of tractive effort of a locomotive when a train, consisting of 8-10 coupled wagons, passes through the unloading rack, mounted over receiving bunkers.

The wagon is equipped with bogies of 18-100 model, coupling devices with automatic coupling SA-3 and standard automatic and hand brakes.

We must especially mention a wagon for glowing coke (model 26-499), modernized by the plant. (Fig.1)

This wagon is intended for without dust reception of glowing coke and subsequent smokeless transportation from coking plant to coke-cooler plenum of the second type. It consists of wagon underframe and demountable freight carrying body, representing a reservoir for glowing coke. The main parts of the reservoir are hot-coke tray, walls of inclined superstructure, vertically the walls of a principal part, bunkers and bottom locks. The above mentioned walls of the body are lined with heat-resistant steel panels. The wagon body life is about 3 years. In order to increase this term, to increase turnaround time (between routine maintenance and overhaul), to decrease costs of manufacture, the coke receiving wagon body was reconstructed. A number of original designers and technological decisions were used.

The reconstruction of a body metal ware and its separate parts have been fulfilled in such a way, that frequent temperature affects do not influence life time of the construction negatively.

Owing to the creation of Eurasian transport corridors and, naturally, to the expected increase of various freights transit through the territory of Ukraine, the concern Azov have produced a pilot model of an East-West tank-wagon for transportation of petrol, and joint-stock company Stakhanov car-building plant have produced a four-axle versatile box car (model 11-950).

This box car is intended for transportation of piece-, container-piece, palletized and others freights, including loose goods and grain-crops, requiring weather protection. The design of the car permits international freight transportation from Ukraine to the Western European countries and backwards or en route through the territory of Ukraine by trains, running on railways with gauges of 1520mm and 1435mm with transposition from one track to another.

The car and all its equipment have been produced for the work in the conditions of moderate climate with working temperature of outdoor air from +400C till -450C. The main dimensions and technical characteristics of the car correspond to the requirements of MSZhD Instruction 571-2 OR to the unified bogie box cars.

The above given data allow to conclude, that technical level of freight cars, being built at the Ukrainian plants nowadays, are highly competitive with the best world models.
