Bozhko Y. I. Case-study of teaching of teaching foreign professional-communicative competence of students of the Navigation Department / Y. I. Bozhko // Scientific Notes of V.I. Vernadsky Crimean Federal University. Series: Higher education. Psychology. Sociology. 2016. Vol., No.. P..

This article is devoted to the study of the situational approach using the method of case-study as a professional technology-based learning. Organization of the discussion of the case involves asking questions and include them in the discussion. The debate is central of case-study. This article describes the presentation as important aspect of case-study. Presentation of the case studies, showing their dignity and demonstrates the effective usage of this method is an advantage over other conventional methods of foreign language teaching in the Navigation Department.

Specific learning situations case-studies developed on the basis of educational material for subsequent analysis in the learning process. Case-study method is aimed at cooperation of students and teachers in the process of discussing a specific problem in the classroom of English. The result of applying this method is not only the acquisition of knowledge but the acquisition of practical skills.

Technology of case-study learning professional English for navigators is to develop a model of the specific situation in practice at sea and gain knowledge and practical skills for professional communication. In this learning situation, the teacher acts as a facilitator who supervises the work of the students during the discussion on the topics in the foreign language classroom. As a result, the students formed a system of values, professional positions and attitudes.

A positive aspect of the method is to investigate cases of complex issues in a safe environment training session, not in real life working environment at sea, with its professional risks.

The use of case studies in the curriculum helps to e[pand training and educational opportunities of the course "English for Specific Purposes" (English for Specific Purposes) through the introduction of practical problems that solve the students discussing in the classroom. Thus, case-study in the advantage that students learn to identify, calculate and analyze their actions in dealing with the problem.
